XXL Mascara is dunzo..

I know I said in Friday’s HSG Show that I was gonna give Maybelline's XXL Mascara another chance. Well the bloom is off the rose. I can't seem to get the primer to disappear this week!

It's white and the mascara is supposed to stick and create "XXL" eyelashes. Hmph! I apply it, then apply the mascara and my lashes look gray! The site says XXL is supposed to "Oversize your lashes", but for me that hasn’t been the case.




My new mascara is Unstoppable, also by Maybelline. According to the site it’s "A washable, lengthening mascara" that offers "zero-budge and zero-smudge for 12 hours!"

It also "lengthens lashes up to 50%" and "comes off easily" so "no more panda eyes!"

All I have to say is so far, so good. I don't have a rave review but it's better than XXL.I'll use it of for the rest of the week and let you know what I think.

L'Oreal HIP Eyeshadow, How do I love thee? Let me count the ways...

1. Your color remains true from the pot to my eyelid (This is MAJOR for me, and anyone else with brown skin)

2. You're easy to apply

3. You last all day

4. You have cool packaging

I could go on and on...and I will!

I am officially obsessed with these eye shadows! I've got chocolate brown skin and freakishly oily eyelids so eyeshadow is usually a nightmare for me - until now. I bought a the eyeshadow duo Spirited at Ulta and it's changed my life! My next purchase will be Charisma, pictured above.

They are not kidding when they say highly pigmented. I didn't pay much attention to this line when it debuted because I just thought it was hype. This led to an unintentionally heavy application on my first try with these. I was used to using a heavy hand when it came to eyeshadow and applied waaaay to much. These take a light touch, blend like a dream and last all day.

52 Books in 52 Weeks - Week 1

Urbane Girl had the fabulous idea to read 52 Books in 52 Weeks. I LOVE this idea!!

She's reading all kinds of books but I'm going to stick to bath, beauty, bathroom design and spa books. My first book is The Bath Gourmet by Rhonda Van. I bought this book a few months ago and I absolutely love it. She has created a bath "cookbook" with a bath recipe for whatever ails you. All of the items you need for the baths can be found in the supermarket, and she gives you warnings about how messing something will get. There is even space in the back for your own notes.

I'm still going to stick with my new years resolution to read a novel every month. I'll let you know when I pick my books.

She blinded me with spa science...

I wish I had gotten this for Christmas:)

I saw this months ago at the Museum of Science and Industry. It was $29 at the museum shop.

As soon as I got home I looked it up online and of course I found it cheaper. The lowest price I located was on Amazon for $15.95.

Here is a blurb from the box:

Felted Soap

I had never heard of this before - felted soap? I found this while surfing Etsy:

"Felted soap eliminates the need for a cloth or bath sponge. The felt is a built in soft cloth that shrinks with the soap as you use it and keeps it from slipping out of your hand. When the soap is gone, you are left with a tiny little scrubby . The soap will also last longer than an unfelted bar, just store it in a drainable soap dish.

Softly scented lemon and cornmeal bar. Hand felted with two colors of yellow ultra soft Merino wool. This 3.5 oz. round soap disk is a cruelty free product made in Ashland, Oregon by Sappo Hill. "

I've been carded...

I was in Sally Beauty after Christmas and the sales girl talked me into getting a Sally Beauty Club Card.

The way this works is that there is a coded price on all of the products in the store along with the sticker price. If you're in the "club", you pay the coded price. In some cases it's $2 or $3 less.

The Sally Beauty Card was $5, and I'm sure it will pay for it's self in another month:)

Happy New Year!!!

I hope everyone is having a relaxing and peaceful New Year's Day. There are a lot of exciting things in store for me, HSG.com and The HSG Show in 2007. A new year is always a chance to to renew yourself, to reinvent yourself even. I've got a few New Year's resolutions:

*To take the time to put on some eye makeup everyday. I have soooo much stuff. It's time I started using it.

*To get a podcast out everyday. I LOVE podcasting! I'm still amazed by the technology and I've been using it for a year. I plan to use this medium, and all of the technologies created around it as much as possible in 2007.

*To use my Palm all the time. I plunked down $250 for a Tungsten E2 a year ago and it sat in a drawer for the last 10 months after I played with it for a week. Now that I have DSL it's crazy easy to get software for it and I've also become great with the Palm Desktop software (I tried the Missing Sync software - it doesn’t truly sync up your info). I've discovered some really great software and it's my new bff.

*To exercise more and loose weight. More on this later.

*To read more. How crazy is that for a librarian to say?!? I read a lot of books for Preschool - 4th graders, but not a lot of books (novels is what I mean - I'm constantly reading books for reference, etc.) Between the site, podcast, work and my business, forget it. But this year I want to read at least one novel a month.

I'm sure this list should be longer, but that's it for now. :)
